Objective To observe the change of regional cerebral blood flow in ADHD children with learning difficulties by single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) brain perfusion imaging, so as to explore regional cerebral functional activity, damageable zone and characteristics of those children. Methods SPECT 99mTc-ECD brain perfusion imaging were performed in 60 subjects that American DSM-IV classification and diagnostic criteria for ADHD children with learning difficulties, and carry out statistical analysis of regional cerebral functional activity and damageable zone for such children. Results Among 60 ADHD children, SPECT examination found that the cerebral cortex of different functional areas had different degrees of abnormality of blood flow perfusion, the frontal lobe and basal ganglia damage are the most common. Among which, 49 cases (81.7%), bilateral basal ganglia blood flow perfusion and function did not match; 53 cases (88.3%) unilateral or bilateral frontal lobe blood flow perfusion had decreased, among which, left prefrontal blood flow decreased was 45 cases, right prefrontal is 39 cases. Temporal lobe blood flow dropped is 21 cases (35%), occipital lobe is 14 cases (23.3%) and parietal lobe is 3 cases (5%). Conclusion ADHD children with learning difficulties not only have psychological and behavioral abnormalities, but also have damage in cerebral function and blood flow perfusion. The abnormality of cerebral blood flow and function in brain perfusion imaging are most likely to appear in the frontal lobe and the basal ganglia, followed by the temporal lobe, occipital and parietal lobe. SPECT brain perfusion imaging technology can be intuitive, accurate for understanding of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder children with learning difficulties, whether the cerebral substance is damage and where the impaired functional area is, provide the basis and guidance for clinical treatment.
