Objective To study the optic nerve head (ONH) parameters and topograph features of normal subjects, and analyze the effect of gender, laterality, age and disc size on the topograph of ONH. Methods Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT-Ⅱ) was used to obtain the optic nerve head parameters and topograph images in 156 eyes of 156 normal volunteers aged 20-80 years old.Results The parameters of ONH in normal eyes were as following: disc area (DA) (2.00±0.38)mm2, cup area (CA) (0.45±0.25) mm2, rim area (RA) (1.54±0.31)mm2, cup/disk area ratio (C/DAR) (0.22±0.10), rim/disk area ratio (R/DAR) (0.78±0.10), cup volume (CV) (0.09±0.07)mm3, rim volume (RV) (0.47±0.14)mm3, mean cup depth (MCD) (0.22±0.07)mm, maximum cup depth (MxCD) (0.62±0.17)mm, height variation contour (HVC) (0.45±0.10), cup shape measure (CSM) (-0.19±0.06), mean retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (mRNFLT) (0.30±0.08)mm, retinal nerve fiber layer cross section area (RNFLA) (1.50±0.37)mm2, horizontal cup/disk ratio (H C/DR) (0.45±0.17), and vertical cup/disk ratio (V C/DR) (0.35±0.79). There was no difference between different genders and different eyes in all parameters. A negative correlation was found between mRNFLT, RNFLA, HVC,RV, MxCD and age. Only CSM had a positive correlation with age. Disc area significantly influenced most of the parameters, except MxCD and HVC. Conclusion HRT-Ⅱcan obtain optic nerve head parameters and topograph images quickly and accurately. Age and disc area influence some topographic parameters of the optic nerve head in the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph ONH analysis. It needs to take account of these factors when analyzing ONH by HRT-Ⅱ. |
