| Objective To study the features of lymphangioma and to evaluate the diagnostic value of sonography. Methods Ultrasonography findings of 54 patients who were proved lymphangioma pathologically were reveiwed restrospectively. These findings were compared with operative and pathological results. Results Patients were divided into three groups based on the location of the lesions: lesions located in areas that were surrounded by loose fascial spaces (n=27), in superficial soft tissues (n=20) or in viscus (n=7). Lymphangioma was classified pathologically into three types: cystic (n=32), cavernous (n=22) and capillary (n=0). Then the ultrasound imaging features of each type were analyzed. Conclusion Different pathological types have different location and ultrasonographic features. Ultrasonography is the most useful imaging modality to determine the nature of the lymphangioma. |
